💡 How to follow: Dr. Jonathan Schutza (PT, DPT) — a short daily circuit that needs no equipment: just a wall and a chair. 20 squats → 30 calf raises → 20 lateral hops per leg → 20 split squats per side. It's strength and balance and coordination in one pass. The reel is sped up — take the reps at your own pace.
1

Wall Deep Squats

Wall Deep Squats — 20 reps

Start with 20 deep squats while holding onto a wall for balance. The wall keeps the movement honest — sit deep, stay controlled.

  1. Stand facing a wall (or doorframe), both hands on it for support
  2. Sit back into a full deep squat — hips below parallel, heels down
  3. Push through the whole foot back to standing
  4. 20 controlled reps, then straight into the calf raises
2

Double-Leg Calf Raises

Double-Leg Calf Raises at Wall — 30 reps

Still holding the same wall, knock out 30 double-leg calf raises. Simple, boring, and one of the best daily moves for ankle strength and Achilles health.

  1. Stand tall at the wall, both hands resting on it for balance
  2. Rise up onto the balls of both feet as high as comfortable
  3. Pause briefly at the top, lower slowly under control
  4. 30 smooth reps — full range, no bouncing
3

Chair-Assisted Lateral Hops

Chair-Assisted Single-Leg Lateral Hops — 20 each leg

Set up a chair, hold on for balance, and hop laterally on one leg — 20 times, then 20 on the other leg. The balance + coordination move of the set.

  1. Stand on one leg beside a chair, hand on the back for support
  2. Hop laterally side to side — small, quick, controlled hops on that leg
  3. Stay light on the ball of the foot, soft knee, don't collapse the hip
  4. 20 hops, then switch legs for another 20
4

Heel-Elevated Split Squats

Heel-Elevated Split Squats — 20 each side

Finish with 20 heel-elevated split squats per side. The raised front heel shifts the load onto the quads — a brutal finisher that ties the whole routine together.

  1. Split stance, front foot heel raised on a small step, plate or book
  2. Lower straight down into a lunge — chest up, back knee soft
  3. Drive up through the front foot to standing
  4. 20 reps per side — "on both sides of course"
