💡 How to follow: Lenny (@lennycalisthenics) outlines his worst-case morning mobility plan: if he woke up with zero mobility, he'd start with these 4 drills to regain movement and decrease stiffness. This is a daily habit he recommends if your mobility is 'trash' — the exercises are low impact, require no equipment, and work through the hips, knees, and spine. The sequence builds progressively: deep squat to unlock hips/knee joints, wall raises for active hip rotation and strength, side dips for spinal mobility, and the flows connect everything.

30-Second Deep Squat

30-Second Deep Squat

Lenny's 'first move if I woke up immobile': 30 seconds of controlled deep squat to restore hip and knee joint health. The key is the depth and control.

  1. Full depth — as low as you can comfortably go
  2. Keep your chest up, weight on the heels
  3. Hold for 30 seconds or break into reps if needed
  4. The goal is joint opening, not strength
  5. This mobilizes hips and knees from the ground up

Wall Leg Raises — 10 Reps Per Side

Wall Leg Raises — 10 Reps Per Side

Active leg raises against a wall to improve hip rotation strength and mobility. Lenny warns: 'This one is harder than it looks.'

  1. Lie on your side, place foot on the wall slightly behind you
  2. Keep your leg straight and use the wall as resistance
  3. Raise your leg up and control it down
  4. 10 reps per side — focus on the hip rotation
  5. The wall forces the hip to rotate through full range
3

Hip Dip — Spine Mobility

Hip Dip — Spine Mobility

Cross one leg over the other and dip the hips to the side to mobilize the spine and decrease lower back stiffness.

  1. Cross one ankle over the knee (figure four)
  2. Dip the hips toward the floor on the side of the bottom leg
  3. Feel the stretch through the glute and low back
  4. Breathe into the stretch, don't force it
  5. Alternate sides if you have time, or stay on the tighter side
4

Daily Maintenance — Save & Repeat

Daily Maintenance — Save & Repeat

If your mobility feels 'trash,' Lenny's prescription is to save this video and do these drills daily. 'More useful mobility tips' follow.

  1. Make this part of your morning routine
  2. Daily beats sporadic — consistency is key
  3. Save for reference when mobility is poor
  4. Follow for 'more useful mobility tips'
  5. The goal is feeling better, not just doing the exercises

Why this works

Full-chain mobility builds from the ground up. Each exercise targets different links in the chain: hip/knee joints → hip rotation → spinal mobility → daily habits.

Wall adds resistance, making mobility active. Leg raises against a wall turn a passive stretch into a strengthening movement — you're moving through the rotation, not just going through the motion.

Daily beats 'when it hurts'. Lenny recommends doing these even when things feel 'trash' — daily maintenance prevents stiffness from building up.
